Understanding the body - relieving pain - finding balance

What is pain therapy?

Pain – whether acute or chronic – not only affects physical mobility, but also mental balance and quality of life. In my practice, the focus is on holistic pain therapy, which combines various proven methods to treat complaints in a causal and sustainable way.

A central aspect of this is the consideration of pain from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): specific pain localization, qualities and accompanying symptoms can provide indications of functional disorders and over 300 different clinical pictures. This holistic diagnosis makes it possible to identify underlying causes – long before conventional medical findings reveal any changes. Depending on the symptoms, I specifically combine the following methods:

  • Acupuncture: regulating the flow of energy, it is particularly helpful for chronic pain such as back pain, migraines or joint problems.
  • Cupping: stimulates circulation and relaxes muscles – particularly effective for localized tension in the shoulder/neck area or lower back.
  • Chiropractic: Gentle adjustments support the restoration of mobility and release functional blockages in the spine and joints.
  • Osteopathy: With a holistic view of the interplay of structure and function, tensions in tissue, fascia and organs are released.

The person as a whole is always at the center of my work. Based on a detailed anamnesis, I develop individual therapy concepts that are specifically tailored to the cause, course and personal life situation.

The aim is not only to alleviate pain, but also to activate self-regulation, promote freedom of movement and enable a better quality of life in the long term.

How does pain therapy work?

Traditional Chinese medicine views pain as a blockage of Qi (vital energy) and Xue (blood). If these cannot flow freely, tension, tension and ultimately pain arise. This is precisely where our pain therapy comes in: with acupuncture, manual techniques and – if necessary – Chinese herbs. The aim is to dissolve blockages, harmonize the flow of energy and reactivate the body’s own healing powers. This is not just about local pain relief, but about restoring balance to the system as a whole.

Our therapists

Our therapist Ryoko specializes in pain therapy and focuses on the special Ken Yamamoto Technique (KYT).

Ryoko Karacar

Tuina Massage (Ken Yamamoto Technique)

Ryoko has extensive experience in manual therapy within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her special focus is on the Ken Yamamoto Technique (KYT) – a modern, functionally oriented treatment method for correcting muscular imbalances.

The Ken Yamamoto Technique is based on an anatomically and functionally precise understanding of muscle chains and joint relationships. The aim of the method is to identify misalignments in the pelvic and spinal area and to correct them in a targeted manner through muscle relaxation and activation. This involves treating specific muscle groups that may be the cause of pain symptoms in other parts of the body.

The combination of Tuina and KYT allows for an effective, holistic approach that takes into account both energetic and structural imbalances.

Areas of application of the Ken Yamamoto Technique include

  • Chronic and acute back pain
  • Neck and shoulder tension
  • Pelvic obliquity, sciatica, lumbar/spinal syndromes
  • Poor posture and functional leg length discrepancies
  • Restricted movement due to muscular dysfunctions

Ryoko uses individually tailored treatment and works both preventively and as an adjunct to therapy for existing musculoskeletal complaints. Her approach combines the centuries-old principles of TCM with the latest findings from functional muscle therapy.

Many patients come to our practice with specific questions. Here we answer the most common ones – honestly, comprehensibly and to the point:
