Acupuncture in Berlin-Friedenau

Targeted pain relief with acupuncture.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a central treatment method in TCM. The targeted placement of fine needles at defined points regulates the flow of energy (Qi) in the body, releases blockages and stimulates the body’s own healing processes. It is used for a variety of functional and chronic complaints.

A proven method of traditional Chinese medicine

Acupuncture is a central component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has been used for over 2000 years to promote the body’s inner balance. The method is based on the idea that our vital energy – known as Qi – flows through the body in a network of meridians. If this energy flow is out of balance, it can lead to discomfort, pain or functional disorders.

Very fine, sterile needles are used to stimulate specific acupuncture points in order to release blockages and harmonize the flow of vital energy. The aim is to stimulate the body’s self-regulation – without any medication, in a natural way.

Naturally. Holistic. Individually.

In contrast to Western medicine, which often aims to quickly eliminate symptoms, acupuncture addresses the root of the imbalance. It views the person as a whole – with body, mind and emotions as an interconnected system.

Acupuncture shows its potential as a gentle, profound regulatory therapy, especially for complaints such as sleep disorders, exhaustion, digestive problems or recurring pain. It can have both a calming and activating effect – depending on the constitution and treatment goal.

Who is the method suitable for?

The WHO provides an extensive list of indications.

Treatment procedure

The very fine, sterile needles are gently inserted after the diagnosis and remain in the body for a few minutes. Most patients experience a tingling, flowing sensation or inner warmth – some even fall asleep.

A medical history is always taken at the start of therapy in order to determine the appropriate treatment method for your individual complaints.

Testimonials

Even in stressful phases of life – exhaustion, sleep problems or emotional stress – many people report that they feel “more at ease”, more relaxed and more powerful after the treatment.

These examples show:
Acupuncture can do more than just alleviate symptoms – it accompanies, stabilizes and strengthens on all levels.

Frequently asked questions about acupuncture

Many patients come to our practice with specific questions. Here we answer the most common ones – honestly, comprehensibly and to the point:

Is acupuncture painful?

The needles are very fine – about as thin as a hair. Most people find the insertion barely noticeable, sometimes accompanied by a brief tingling or warming sensation.

This depends on the symptoms. For acute issues, 3-5 sessions are often sufficient. Chronic complaints usually require a longer treatment period. We discuss this together on an individual basis.

Private health insurance companies and supplementary health insurance companies often cover part of the costs. Statutory health insurance companies usually only pay for certain diagnoses. Please clarify the details directly with your insurance company.

Serious side effects are rare. Occasionally there are small bruises or slight tiredness – usually a sign that the body is actively reacting to the treatment.

Yes, very good. Acupuncture can complement conventional medical treatments or be part of an overall naturopathic concept.

Yes, studies show that acupuncture can significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks – without any medication.

It can stabilize the immune system and alleviate allergic reactions (e.g. hay fever, skin rashes). Many patients report a significant improvement during the pollen season.

Acupuncture is often used to accompany the desire to have children – for cycle regulation, hormonal imbalances or in preparation for IVF. During pregnancy, it helps with nausea, back pain and sleep disorders, for example.

As a supplement to a change in diet, acupuncture can reduce cravings, increase the feeling of satiety and harmonize the metabolism – especially in combination with ear acupuncture.

Ear acupuncture uses reflex zones on the ear and is often used for smoking cessation, stress reduction or weight regulation. It can also be useful as a complement to body acupuncture.
